Cytokines are key mediators of immune responses. They are involved in inflammatory (IFN-γ, TNF-α) and humoral immune reactions. Cytokines can promote growth and differentiation of cells in the immune system (IL-2), as well as suppression of immune reactions (IL-10).
In addition to the unique Cytokine Secretion Assays, which allow highly sensitive detection and optional enrichment of viable cytokine-secreting cells, Miltenyi Biotec has extended its product range for the analysis of cytokine-producing cells. Now, also fluorochrome-conjugated anti-cytokine antibodies for intracellular staining of cytokine expression are available. With these antibodies, cells can either be stained conventionally in suspension or by solid-phase intracellular staining in combination with MACS® Enrichment of the respective cells of interest. This innovative MACS Staining Technology is especially useful when working with low numbers of cells, since loss of cells is minimized and cells of interest are enriched. |
