Sample stabilization with one pipetting step By adding the non-toxic PrepProtect™ solution, RNA, DNA, or protein is stabilized in cell or tissue samples – for reliable downstream applications. Safe fresh or frozen samples PrepProtect prevents RNA degradation whenever quick-freezing or direct analysis after sample collection is impossible, samples are shipped without dry ice, or frozen tissue is weighed and dissected. Reproducible high-throughput analysis Especially when handling multiple biological samples in parallel, processing time is critical for accurate downstream analysis like gene expression profiling. High-quality RNA is a prerequisite for many gene expression profiling techniques such as quantitative PCR or microarray analysis. However, RNA is chemically unstable and susceptible to ubiquitous RNases. When collecting biological samples, quick-freezing or RNA purification directly after sample collection is often not possible. RNase-associated degradation during sample collection, storage, thawing of frozen samples, and RNA preparation jeopardizes accurate downstream analyses. Stabilization of fresh samples. The non-toxic reagent PrepProtect enables instant RNA stabilization in freshly harvested samples. By simply adding PrepProtect Buffer, fresh samples are typically stable for at least one day at 37 °C, one week at 18-25 °C, one month at 4 °C, or for archival storage below –20 °C. This facilitates sample collection and parallel processing of multiple samples, and allows convenient sample shipment without dry ice. Stabilization of frozen samples. PrepProtect Buffer even seeps through previously frozen material, and protects mRNA during thawing. Frozen samples incubated in PrepProtect Buffer are stable for up to one hour at room temperature or overnight at 4 °C. This enables researchers to prepare samples, for example to weigh or dissect tissues, before RNA isolation. PrepProtect Reagent compensates the hardness of frozen tissues by softening their structure; thereby, it facilitates tissue lysis and homogenization without prior pulverization with mortar and pestle. PrepProtect allows RNA stabilization in both freshly prepared as well as previously frozen samples, abating the need to work fast. RNA quantity and quality are preserved for reliable downstream analyses like quantitative PCR or microarray analysis. Besides RNA stabilization, PrepProtect preserves the integrity of DNA and denatured protein in biological samples. |
