Hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSCs/HPCs), can be isolated by their expression of CD34 using the CD34 MicroBead Kit, or the CD34 MultiSort Kit for subsequent isolation of subsets. CD34 is expressed on hematopoietic stem and progentitor cells and by more commited progenitors, such as pre-B cells, CFU-Es and CFU-Gs (erythrocyte/granulocyte colony forming cells). CD133 is expressed on immature hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells, whereas CD117 is expressed on a subset of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells, and plays a role in diverse leukemias and tumors. For the depletion of lineage committed cells, the Lineage Cell Depletion Kit can be used. Click here for an overview of the expression pattern of CD133 and CD34 during hematopoietic development.
