| MACS® Cell Separation Columns |
 |
|
MACS® Cell Separation Columns were developed for the gentle separation of a wide range of cells. When MACS Columns are placed in a MACS Separator – a strong permanent magnet – the MACS Column matrix provides a magnetic field strong enough to retain cells labeled with minimal amounts of MACS MicroBeads. MS Columns, LS Columns, and XS Columns are optimized for positive selection of cells. They can also be used for depletion if the magnetic labeling is strong. Large Cell Columns were designed for positive selection of large human or animal cells (e.g. megakaryocytes) and have a larger pore size compared to MS Columns. LD Columns, as well as CS Columns and D Columns are recommended for depletion of unwanted cells. Highest depletion efficiency is obtained with these column types, even if the magnetic labeling of the cells – due to dim antigen expression – is weak. autoMACS Columns are designed for use with the autoMACS™ Separator and the autoMACS™Pro Separator. Which column should be used for a certain cell separation reagent? The MACS Reagents data sheet will always state the recommended MACS Columns. Please refer to the respective data sheet. |
