Bioinformatics services for expression data analysis
Bioinformatics services may be useful at various stages of your research project, from the design of customized microarrays through to data analysis for gene and microRNA expression data. Our Bioinformatics Service includes the provision of comprehensive documentation and data in publishable format. Next to the standard services, custom services can be performed.

For a focused look at specific gene sets
If you are looking for microarrays that are not in a standard catalog, our Microarray Design Service will select and design probes for customized 8x15k Agilent Microarrays. Topic-specific microarrays can be designed using genes selected by you, the customer, or by our bioinformatics team. We can also provide microarrays for species for which no catalog array is available. Our probe design is based on the highest quality criteria and we coordinate the whole process, from communicating with Agilent to ordering the final design. You can be assured of 100% confidentiality: microarray configurations will never be disclosed by us or used for other projects.

Extracting biological information from microarray data
Our service has a modular structure and is ideally suited for analysis and interpretation of your gene expression data. The most important step is mandatory data pre-processing (specific for different platforms, e.g. Agilent, Affymetrix, Illumina). There are then two options for the identification of genes with interesting expression behavior: either discriminatory genes analysis (DGA), e.g. for sample group comparisons, or clustering, e.g. for time-course analyses or dosage-response studies. Functional Grouping Analysis provides a quick overview of molecular processes or pathways involved in, or changed with, the changes in gene expression. Pathway Analysis finally provides a more detailed interpretation on the functions of the genes with changed expression. We use standard programs such as Rosetta Resolver, GeneSpring, R / Bioconductor, freeware and self-scripted software.

Better understanding of microRNA expression profiles
Our service has a modular structure and is ideally suited for analysis and interpretation of your microRNA expression data. The most important step is mandatory data pre-processing. There are then two options for the identification of microRNAs with interesting expression: either discriminatory genes analysis (DGA), or clustering. We have implemented various algorithms for the prediction of mRNA targets of regulated microRNAs. Our service provides annotation and functional grouping of microRNAs and, if both measurements were done using the same biological material, we can correlate regulated microRNAs with their potential target mRNAs. We use standard programs such as R / Bioconductor, freeware and self-scripted software.

Anything else?
If you would like to discuss your project with us or have questions regarding bioinformatics we have the answers. One area of special expertise is sequence analysis. This analysis type is useful to search genome sequences for motifs of known function (e.g. specific interaction domains, or active sites of enzymes).
